If you’re a bookworm like me, you’ve probably heard of Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited—an online subscription service for reading e-books. As someone who goes through novels faster than I do underwear, joining Kindle Unlimited has been a no brainer. I no longer spend a fortune each year on books or wait endlessly for holds at the local library. I’ll admit, it was tough at first to let go of physical books—I loved the feel of turning timeworn pages and watching the gap between the beginning and end of each book shrink as I read. But ultimately, nothing beats the convenience and instant access of e-books.
My favorite genre is by far “Romantasy”, a mixture of romance and fantasy. One of the biggest advantages of Kindle Unlimited is that it exposes readers to indie authors who aren’t as well known as traditional authors and yet write really great books. Indie authors publish their books independently, versus traditional authors who publish via established publishing houses. While they don’t have the backing of experienced marketing teams or the prestige of big-name publishers, I found some really creative, captivating authors who publish via the unlimited platform and eventually purchased all of their books (even if not part of the kindle unlimited selection).
Here is the list of must read, mostly swoon worthy kindle unlimited romantasy books (as of June 2025) listed alphabetically:
- Crowns of Nyaxia Series – by Carissa Broadbent
- Curse of the Cyren Queen – by Helen Scheuerer
- Fate & Flame Series – by K.A. Tucker
- Kingdom of Lies Series – by Stacia Stark
- Six Scorched Roses (A Crowns of Nyaxia stand-alone novel) – by Carissa Broadbent
- Slaying the Shadow Prince (A Legends of Thezmarr stand-alone novel) – by Helen Scheuerer
- Slaying the Vampire Conqueror – by Carissa Broadbent
- The Bridge Kingdom – by Danielle L. Jensen
- The Kindred’s Curse Saga Series – by Penn Cole
- The War of Lost Hearts – by Carissa Broadbent
These books were by far the best I read in 2024-2025. I like following these authors on amazon, and receive notifications when new books are published. I also found some of them on Instagram where they post updates and upcoming book teasers.
So what’s your input? are there really great romantasy books you’ve read on kindle unlimited that are missing here? let me know!
